Mad about Coco - Yoga & Beach Retreat

A group of 14 of us stayed at Mad about Coco from May 20 to 21, 2026. The location is vantage as the resort is very close to the North Cliff. But if one is travelling by a bigger vehicle, you have to park the vehicle at the main road and walk a good 350 metres to reach the resort. The rooms are spacious and the resort staff did their best to give us great comfort. Absence of geysers and presence of only solar panels meant being at the mercy of the Sun for hot water supply. So, during rains, you get only a cold shower. Honestly, this is true about the majority of lodging facilities in India. Talking of the Sun, the breakfast menu of the resort's Sun Francisco restaurant needs an overhaul and currently, it is misleading. Despite a few hiccups, during my next visit to Varkala, I will certainly opt for Mad about Coco, again.

There isn’t always hot water. There is only a solar heater, which means there’s no hot water in the mornings, late evenings, or when it’s cloudy. In addition, the water tank can suddenly run out, and then you have to step out in the middle of your shower and ask for it to be refilled. Not what you would expect from a hotel at this price. Aside from that, the staff is very nice, especially Samuel, who was very friendly, kind and pleasant. The place and the rooms look good and are clean. Good location, one minute from the cliff.

I have been coming to Coco every year for the past eight years. I just finished a month stay and it reminds me why I would never want to be anywhere else in Varkala. Anita, Samuel and the rest of the team make you feel so at home in a peaceful and secluded atmosphere. Rooms are extremely clean and super comfortable (my favourite being the swing chair on the balcony). Just seconds from the cliff, they also include a gorgeous breakfast at their cafe Sun Fransisco. It’s a beautiful start to the day with a stunning sea view and friendly staff looking after you. See you next year!

We booked the budget room. It was pretty decent. The property itself is very calm, peaceful and gives off aesthetic vibes. The managers are super friendly and helpful. The rooms itself are basic. Hot water wasnt available and since we came when it was raining that was a let down. All in all, I would say it was good due to the convenience and connectivity. The property has a shortcut to the cliff side cafes which was very convenient for us to roam around.

It’s a really beautiful place! The rooms are excellent and the service all around is perfect! The staff is incredibly friendly and sweet, too! And the owner is amazing and helps u get around in the area and has great recommendations for a trip through India in general! The food in the nearby restaurant *Sun Francisco* is the best Indian Food I have experienced in my life!
